In an effort to provide greater transparency to the public in all sectors of local government, the digital remodelling of government buildings was encouraged. This pilot project in Victoria Street, Westminster, has revealed signs of early building stress syndrome that may accelerate the demolition of many similar council buildings throughout the country. Luckily this demolition programme will be easily embraced by the government, which is urging Local Authorities to implement the VEG (virtual e-government system). This requires only minimal staff and buildings.
